In a music classroom, it is important to create a confident student no mater what their level is. If my student feels confident and enjoys playing, they are able to feel inspired to continue and progress. Consistency and repetition in my classroom creates a comfortable environment for my students to grow. When they enter their lesson, students know what to expect, and guiding them through new material can be less of a challenge. By approaching material using multiple methods, I am able to find the best solution for each student as an individual.

The diversity and individuality of my students has tremendously influenced the way I teach. It is important to make the material I present in lessons relative to the daily life of my student. I use the interests, experiences and imagination of my students as a way to keep them engaged and making connections throughout the lesson.

In group lessons, I aim to foster positive social interaction. In the music classroom setting, I have witnessed my students watching and learning from each others actions, building from each other’s creativity and taking on different leadership roles all while maintaining a sense of awareness for each other. Music is a social experience, and it is a priority in my teaching to see that positive interactions take place to build and foster a sense of community.

Do you offer online lessons?
Yes! I teach lessons conveniently through Zoom or Skype to accommodate non-local students and for students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Do you need experience to take lessons?
Absolutely no experience is required! I teach students at all levels and ages.

What materials do I need?
We will work together before and in your first lesson to cover what method books and other materials you will need. If you do not have an instrument, I am happy to make arrangements to determine the correct size and where you can acquire one.

What methods do you teach?
I use a blended curriculum of Suzuki Method and my own pedagogy in lessons. I believe a strong foundation in technique is key in creating a confident and musical performer. Some of the method books I use include; Suzuki, Feuillard Popper, Mooney, and Dotzauer.
